CALAMARIUM
in quo atramentum reponitur, ad calamum intingendum, Graecis ἐμβάφιον quoque, item μελανδόχιον, h. e. atramentale seu atramentarium, recentioribus Latinis Caniculum dictum est, diminutivâ formâ, a Canum, quod ex Graeco κανὸν et κανοῦν: quae vox non canistrum tantum textum vimine notat, sed etiam τρύβλιον et μαγῖδα. Unde Caniclinus, nomen officii in Aula Constantinopolitana, de quo infra. Vide quoque supra in voce Atramentarium.
